Humble beginning

K.Kalaiselvan - A man of many parts who has finally found his niche in painting.

He and his work are not that easy to describe. Both have gone through life with all its ups and downs and finally the victory cry from his throat is full of vim and vigour because he has tasted victory and it is sweet.

Kalai- as he is known to friend and foe alike was born at Anniyur, a little village near Villipuram in Tamilnadu state, India– described euphemistically as a place ‘back of beyond’ anything.

But Kalai is proud of his beginnings. It was this life that created in his soul a thirst to give vent to his feelings through the medium of art, and his life shaped the desire.

Born in February 1963 he completed schooling in his native village, he moved to Chennai where he graduated in textile designing at the famed Chennai college of arts and crafts in 1985. Painting was part of the syllabus and once he understood that this medium suited him, the spark was lit and blazed into a glorious fire which continues to burn to this day.

Kalai too began his internship with this art by painting the school board and drawing science diagrams for various classes in the school.

Though he worked for some time to keep the wolf from the door, he finally realized that painting was what God had meant to do in his life and so from the start of 2010, he became a full fledged, full time painter.

About Artist...

Mr.Kalaiselvan known as Kalai was born in Anniyur, a little village near Villipuram in Tamilnadu state, India. Born in February 1963 he completed schooling in his native village, he moved to Chennai where he graduated in textile design at the famed Chennai College of Arts and Crafts in 1985. He had a boundless desire to paint.
He was fascinated by nature and its beauty in a wide range of forms, colours, and textures. The life, energy, and movement seen in the waterbodies, skies, and galaxies have urged him to paint his experience and memories of these images in a spontaneous style. He builds his canvas with texture and layers of colours and works the brushes into different hues spreading and concretising forms and shapes that are stored in his memory. As the painting brings forth a combination of hazy and distinct forms palette knife and fingers are used to define or indicate experiences that lie deep within his being. Days of reworking and modifications eventually culminate in a completed painting which frequently reverberates with Biblical meaning.

Our Core Values

As I am always fascinated and haunted by nature, its marvelous happenings associated with our life pave way to my thoughts that comes out in my paintings. I feel that there are many invisible places in nature, beyond our vision which I have tried to bring out in my paintings. Most of my paintings reflect the colours and forms of Galaxies.

With these themes my paintings have a distinctive flow of energy and thoughts. This helps me to create many structures by using many colours which comes out with vigor in my own style.

My paintings are with knife, brush and finger tips which stand as unique style on mixed media.

As I was brought up in village, I had many chances to admire sky and nature from my childhood. So each painting has different thoughts and visions.

We continuously evolve our programs and facilities, embracing the latest technologies and methodologies to provide students with a cutting-edge education. Our state-of-the-art studios, galleries, and resources serve as dynamic spaces for exploration, experimentation, and artistic growth.
